Aussies & Kiwis: we will own all your oil bases!!

Are you aussies getting this email circulating around - Remeber 22 Feb.

It has been calculated that if everyone in Australia and New Zealand did not purchase a drop of petrol for one day and all at the same time, the oil companies would choke on their stockpiles. At the same time it would hit the entire industry with a net loss over 4.6 billion dollars which affects the bottom lines of the oil companies.

Therefore Friday February 22nd has been formally declared stick it up their ass' day and the people of this nation should not buy a single drop of petrol that day.

The only way this can be done is if you forward this e-mail to as many people as you can and as quickly as you can to get the word out. Waiting for the government to step in and control the prices? It is not going to happen.

What happened to the reduction and control in prices the arab nations promised long ago? The prices just keep going up and we need to stop it. Petrol prices are causing other effects; airlines are forced to raise their prices, as are trucking companies. This increases prices on everything that is shipped. Things like food, clothing, building supplies medical supplies etc.

Who pays in the end? We do!
We can make a difference.
If they don't get the message after one day, we will do it again and again.
So do your part and spread the word.
Forward this email to everyone you know.

Mark your calendars and make February 22nd the day citizens of Australia & New Zealand say 'enough is enough'.

I fail to see how one-day boycotts like this can ever work. Oil is fungible. Whatever they money lose on that one day they make up the next when everyone who delayed buying petrol for that one day protest has to fill up again. The only way to really get back at them is to buy a vehicle that burns less fuel. That way they're getting less of your money over time. Shifting your gas purchase for one day will have a negligible effect.

There's a similar one going around in the UK where you boycott the majors like Esso, BP and Shell and only buy petrol from supermarket forecourts, who probably buy it from one of those three anyway.

The Arabs say there is enough oil to meet demand. I think a lot of it is psychological and the real price maybe should be a lot lower.

Over the years, the same email has gone around in the US also. Citco seems to be the favorite target especially due to the "link to Chavez" as stated in the emails.

Screw oil what about gas! Get a load of this we here in the UK can only store 5% of our gas so we sell the rest to France who got 35% storage and when we need it back France charges three times the amount they bought it from us.

So what is the answer? We must build bigger gas storage and no longer ship it to France.

Good news we are.

Back to oil............

NEW FLASH!!!

An Australian Submarine is docking at our ports today and will be here for 2 weeks! I have no idea if the sub will be open to the public but if it is i will be heading to Devonport. I wish nuclear power submarines were allow to visit our ports. But still a diesel sub is better than nothing. Why is this so exciting? Well it will be the first time in my life i have ever seen a submarine up close.

Quote:
An Australian submarine will be making its way into Auckland today for a 13-day visit.
HMAS Rankin, which is based at Fleet Base West near Perth, is expected to berth at Devonport naval base at 11am and depart on February 24. The 77.5m-long submarine has 55 sailors on board.
The last Australian submarine to visit Auckland was HMAS Farnscombe in 2005.

Been tried before, failed.

Besides the price of petrol (which is ridiculously high compared to the world oil price) LPG here has shot up 100% in the past 3 months! no reason for it... just cos.

Doubt it would work, you would have to have a longer period before you saw any change. It wouldn't be possible ,as people would still need fuel!
