Default Stupid Noob Question

Ok so I know this is a dumbass noob question, but here it goes any way. Setting up a new career trying Manual Targeting, and in the screen where you choose year, base, boat, and difficulty; does the difficulty selected actually affect the difficulty in game, or is this option trumped by T.M and RSRD. ( My assumption is that the option is trumped by said mods). If they do in fact affect in game difficulty what do most of you play on? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Hi,

I was always lead to believe that setting the difficulty in the career screen only altered the main settings such as manual targetting / realistic reloads etc etc and this was relative to the stock game.

TM / RFB / RSRDC to some degree may alter the difficulty in other ways such as in the way the AI now works as they have been tweaked, ship / plane weapon loadouts / armor lvls have also changed with these type mods making it harder still, adding RFB or TM deffinately makes it harder than stock.

I run TM 1.7.6 with RSRDC phase III and NSM4 and with the options i use the difficulty is at 81% i like it that way, when i fnally get the hang of manual targetting that will change.

If I recall correctly, TM adjusts the realism %'s for the options and not their effect directly. The net change is my default difficulty settings changed from a stock 75% to 93% - something like that.

currently playing at Normal difficulty at 91%. Just wondering if hard or realistic effects the AI.

Hi Claybirdd
You can set at least some of the realism settings when you are in the map room between missions or starting a new career buy putting your cursor over the radio on the top shelf to the left of the screen and it will bring up the realism settings dialog box which will let you pick the level of realism you want. I'm sure that with TM and other mods like RSRD (both of which I use) there are aspects of it that you probably can’t change but you can pick some things like manual targeting etc.
Hope this is helpful to you
Good Hunting!

you can adjust "your" settings as posted above....the AI just plays the same regardless....except for 'ol Bungo Pete, he can be found in the Trigger Maru 1.7.6

SH4 can now be enjoyed in many different flavors. Its a good time!
