hi, how do i determine how many days to stay in port without SH3 commander - just got back from first patrol on 19/9/39 and thinks it maybe unrealistic to go straight out again despite been undamaged

I think you will automatically jump about 25-30 days before starting your next patrol (don't remember the exact number), plus a day for each percent of hull damage. When you first get back to base it shows the date that you returned, but by the time you go out again it will advance. You don't manually need to edit anything for that to happen.
![]() SH3 Commander simply randomises the number of days, or gives you the option to choose the number of days. I'm not sure how long Type II boats stayed in port between patrols, but since they were not at sea as long I'd expect it was probably a little less than for the Type VIIs. If you don't want to use Commander, but you do want to edit the number of days, you'll have to wait for somebody else to help because I don't know how to do that. |

There is a way to edit it in the files, but Commander makes it so easy. Also if you set it to random, it takes the condition of your boat into account. I once sailed into port in a Type IIA after a dead patrol; I still had all my torpedoes. Five days later I was on my way again.
You'll be amazed at all the different things SH3 Commander does for your game.

Contact is correct.
SH3 Commander allows you to set the number to a figure of your choosing. If docked at a supply boat or milch cow, it automatically sets the number of days to 1, plus an extra day for every % point of damage incurred during the patrol. |

In the first year of the war, the ratio was 40%/60% of days at sea to days at port. Later it improved to 50/50.
At first it took 2.35 uboats to make sure you had one at sea. After the fall of France, and the seizure of their dock facilities, it only took 1.84 uboats to make sure you hand one at sea.
