Default SH4 and hardware specs

Hi,

Currently on SH3/GWX2, I'm planning to try SH4 but before...
I'm running on a Laptop ASUS 16J / DuoT2400/ 2Go ram / ATI Radeon X1600.
Please tell me if that config can run SH4 in 1280x800 (or traditional 1024x768) with enough framerate with good graphic quality w/o experimenting visual glitches or major slowdows and framerate drops.

On the orther side, is SH4 now to the same quality level as SH3/GWX2 is today. I mean is it a major gaming experience or should I stick with my ol'SH3 which runs quite well ?

Thanx 4 the reply.

Default 2/3 good to go

Your processor and RAM are good to go. I don't know enough about the graphics card to know how well it will run SH4 except that we have people on the board using it that are happy.

The message of GWX is "you are going to die." The palpable feeling of doom is not present in SH4. Here you have a feeling that you should survive to see the end of the war. This has the effect of making you bolder and more likely to die stupidly. It also makes attacks by escorts more trying for me, as I tend to treat it as an impediment to my hunting activity--a bother, really.

Actually, the two games are so different that it becomes difficult to compare the quality. Both have some defects that can cross them off your list. SH3/GWX, for existance, ignores the essential factor of cooperation between U-Boats in a wolfpack, and so is in no way a realistic simulation of the U-Boat experience. Taken from that observation, SH4 is far superior because the individual boat's operation is just as faithfully executed as SH3.

I think the games compliment each other. Having both makes me appreciate each one more than I did when I only had one. Once I complete my SH4 career I'm going to try again at SH3/GWX2 if I can get the save game glitch under control this time. In saving games, SH4 is clearly very superior to SH3.

Thanx for the answer Rockin Robbins.
I was afraid of swithching to SH4 cause I was afraid of posts about it and the lesser experience than SH3, which seems to have better fame. And I thought my configuration wouldn't authorize me to play it succefully.
Just a question. What I appreciate in SH3 is the immersion feeling. For example to beable tomove inside the boat and look at your crew doing the hard job. I liked to the ability to manage your crew, whose names I knew (for each member) at the end of a campaign. Do you have the same in SH4, I mean 3D mobility and extended crew management ?

Yes, SH4 has all of this. Only, the crew will shift change by themselves. You can move them around, get names, relieve them off the boat, promote and award medals. Also, SH3 allowed you click on a crewman and have them do a task. SH4 does not allow this. For the most part, it is very close to or the same as SH3.

Your X1600 will play the game just fine. I did it with the X1300 and it play just great.
