Default Patrol not completing with 1.4?

Hello! I've been playing the game for a while and upgraded to 1.4 today. I decided to start a new career and my first mission is patrol area XX. Usually I run around the icon (inside a 100nm radius) for 48 hours and all is fine (sinking things I find but not trying too hard for these missions).

edit: Nevermind that, it completed seconds after posting this O_o

I posted a similar issue, and it looks like 50 miles is the radius to stay within.

Do you have to stay moving or can you just hang out near the icon for 48 hours?

I just get to the icon and hit all stop. I use high TC to get rid of the 48 hour wait and then go about my business. You'll still make contact with any ships that stray into the 50 mile area but you won't burn any fuel.

I'm sure this fills the RFB guys with horror, but I find having to patrol a 50/100 mile area around the icon to be a waste of time. So, I get to the icon, get it grayed out and then go hunting.

Welcome to SUBSIM kwijibo55

I play in a similar way TDK, wish I had more time to play at RT, but I don't.
I use the " get in, get it done, get out " method of game play

Default Welcome!

I've used a 75 nm radius with no problems. There was a post of the radii for all the objectives once and I think I remember two with 50 nm, but I haven't found them yet. 75 has worked on them all so far.

I thought it was more time related. I've been cruising up and down Honshu for more than a week and have not gotten the OK to come home yet and I've down 18,000 + tons of shipping. I'll try sitting off the icon for two days under TC and see what happens.

It's a marriage of time and distance. For total safety, stay within 50 miles of the icon for 48 hours.

I do this too, saves on fuel as well.

Unless the weather is crap or a target stumbles into range.

There are two different kinds of mission orders which are similar. They are easily confused and when instructing newbies you need to be very clear which we are talking about because it LOOKS like we are giving conflicting information.

Patrol is time-on-proximity based.
Deploy is proximity only.

You often get a "Patrol" after accomplishing a "Deploy" order. I have found the "Deploy" distance to be much more varied than "Patrol" and is often between 40 and 80 miles for me. When I have strayed outside the 50 miles after a PATROL order, I've had to make up the time by patrolling longer because the clock restarted.

It should be pretty obvious to anyone.

Deploy mission: the star turns grey upon reaching the way point and you recieve a message to prosecute shipping once it does. Once you recieve that message you are free to go hunting. Any ship, any where even hundreds of miles away from the original waypoint. You just have to reach a certain amount of tonnage to fullfil the orders.

Patrol : When you reach the area the star does not change. A hidden timer is started and you must remain within the radius for a period of time. Wander outside that radius and the timer is reset evidently. It doesent matter wether or not you sink a damn thing, just stay in the area.

That adds up to what happen to me. I was deployed for almost a month, sailing up and down Honshu, sinking about 38,000 + tons with an incomplete status. I sat about 60 miles off the icon for about 2 days and got the 'Complete' status for my patrol.
