Possibly the Largest Video Game Mod Hoax in HISTORY

I've recently been doing some research into a modification that I was told about by a friend of mine for the old game Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (you might remember it, as it was pretty popular a few years ago). Anyway, I became more and more interested in this mod and started to look it over closer and closer. Looked pretty impressive and it sounded very neat. As I delved deeper and deeper into its background, I came across several things that have led me to believe that the mod is actually a huge hoax (not the first time someone has come to this assumption either).

I found a video that will better explain some of the issues that have led me to this sad yet angering conclusion:

Now upon doing further research into the mod, I found that the man running the show, Master Tim as he is called, has been collecting donations since the mod was first announced years and years ago. Upon further research into the actual numbers, he's actually collected over $10,000 from fans all over the world (note that he lives in Istanbul, Turkey). As if that wasn't bad enough, he was actually sent to the GAMEX Convention in 2006 and provided with his own display moment (note the number of people in front of him):

I've looked into the names of people in the audience at the time, and it turns out some of them were there to view the mod from Gamespot, IGN, Strategy Informer, and even Game Informer Magazine. He was also sent to the CEBIT Convention.

Tim's YouTube account can be found here along with all his videos and probable lies:

The mod was reset to be re-released on January 1st. That time has come and gone with no news on the site as to why it has not been released. As if that was bad enough, Tim has even considered possibly CHARGING members who want to have the mod sent to them (from Turkey... and even then he's not spoken up as to how he will accomplish this...).

I honestly don't know what to think. I'm fairly sure this is a huge lie. Several users have pointed out that the work presented in Tim's "Ultimate Trailer" ( ) was in fact stolen from them by him and then integrated accordingly for the GAMEX Convention, and from further research, that seems to be the case. His forums, if you have a look, are too hunky-dory. There's too much praise towards the mod and not enough criticism.

I'm wanting to know what you think on the subject. Here's the main website for the mod, and that's what I'm leaving you with:

As a final word, this hoax thing has gotten very serious. Several people have even made death threats against Tim.

I used to have this game, it was pretty fun. This mod sounds interesting and has been apprently been under development for quite some time.

What I find amusing is that he posted on 1/04/08 that the addon would be released on 1/01/08 *See credits page, states 08. So......he makes a news post on the 4th about releasing a mod on the 1st?:rotfl:

As for the $100 donations to get the game in a professional presentation, well geez...who would really pay the International rates for that? Especially when he points out that you can d/l and print the box art and eventually the mod for free. How much could a dvd box cost anyway, $1.00 at most?

It's quite a peculiar situation any mod would take months or even years in this case apprently if one man is doing virtually all the work. Based on the credits, it would appear that alot of the work was done by others and he just edited them and put it all into one package, that's not to discredit him though, putting X amount of mods together and make it actually work is surely difficult, especially when your mod team is just one man apprently. In conclusion.....who knows really, based on the credits he runs everything from the website to the beta testing, is it a fraud, is it real and he's just wants to release a product worthy of his time and effort as I'm sure all modders can understand, who knows.:hmm:

Lastly......for a mod that missed it's target date of released, I'm surprised no one is spaming the news post with "where is the mod" "wtf....where is it" "I spent all day waiting for this and nothing happend where the !&^$ is it?" Maybe the website has it's own secret police that makes sure no bad posts see the light of day.

Thank you, Silent. I've been busy with Tim and intend to continue being so in the future...

And Puppy, he does have a couple of "moderators" do his bidding for him (they're more like the Gestapo if you ask me...). He keeps the forums only within the range of praising the mod, nothing less.

If you watch the release date video, you'll find that the quotes provided are 100% correct along with the dates. It's utterly ridiculous how many times he's lied on the state of the mod. And the 1/4 post time in conjunction with the 1/1 release date is utter bollocks. The time isn't 3 days apart (between the US and Turkey), just a few hours apart.

The whole thing is so damn fishy and fake it's not even funny. What makes me so angry is that he's still continuing his charade (he raised $2,000 bucks one year when he said he needed a new computer to run JKA, yet the specs he provided on the current machine he was using were more than adequate for running the game; he no more needed a new PC than I need a lesson in spelling). Wonder what will happen when the communities start going after him. Sites like ModDB have already figured him out and banned the mod (well, they've just shut the page down on their site).

Good blog link, by the way. Didn't notice it at all, lol.

EDIT:

Love that picture the hacker put on the website (Tim's picture with the "Lies & Deceit" line for the website entrance page).
