Default Question about repairs/damage control

Hi everyone!

Lets say I my boat has been damaged in a depth charge attack, the bow quarters are red and the radio room yellow in the damage/crew management screen.

So then of course I assign a repair team,
My questions:

Will they start repairing the compartments with the most flooding first or do I have to manually assign them to the worst areas?
And can the damage team repair more than one compartment at a time?

Also what do those 2 symbols mean, one looks like a box with a cross in it the other one like a funny pipe thingie?

thanks for any input!

Ok let me try and explain this the easiest way i can.

If a compartment is damaged or flooding... any personnell within that compartment will automatically try and fix the damage and stop the flooding. but they will not be as efficient as the damage control team.

If you have a damage control team - they are the most efficient way to fight flooding or repair damage however they can only focus on one area of the boat at a time.

IIRC flooding will be pumped out automatically... BUT - the flooding will pump out faster if a damage control team is assigned to the compartment.

You have to assign the damage control team to the compartment to be repaired - they will not repair it automatically.

No, you have to assign them manually. It's you who gets all the ships info, a guy with a hammer has no idea of the needs, he sees just the part he is trying to repair and tons of water coming in.

No. But it's sometimes useful to move them to another room even before they finish repairing the previous one, for example to balance floods or to pump the water out before you start fixing the damage.

Where are these symbols? Do you mean the "time to get completely flooded room" and "time to have the water pumped out"?

The first symbol tells you how much time it will take you to pump all of the water out of that compartment, the second tells you how long it will take until the compartment is completely flooded I believe...

I thought the symbol on the left side of a flooded and damaged compartment indicates the length of time it will take to pump out the water, while the symbol on the right indicates how long it will take to repair the damage (after the flooding is controlled).

Not quite true, the symbol on the left indicates how much time the crew will need to stop the flooding, not how much time it will need to pump it out, that you can see by clicking on the compartment (recovery from flooding).

couple o points mate

1. i think an officer with a repair qualification will help reduce your repair times...if you add him to your repairwindow...overseeing everything

2. remember......repairing your boat makes noise....enough for the warship that hit you to gain a fix on you!!!....if you can run silent without seriously damaging your boat then get out of there and repair later.

3. as above....if you have silent running ordered your crew will not fix anything...keep an eye on this if you do need to immediately repair anything!
