Concerning the Ubisoft patches, 1.0-1.4b

I am re-installing this ****e over again, got the feeling the pitch-black sky at daytime isn't quite the way things should be. SO!

The file called "silent_hunter_3_dvd_1.4b.exe" says that it updates from 1.0 to 1.3. Which makes little sense. Is this still the right one? I'll read over the GWX stuff again, but I assume I am indeed to simply install SH, install SH Commander, and install GWX. =)

yes. That is the one. silent_hunter_3_dvd_1.4b.exe is patch 1.4b UBI made a mistake and called it (in text during installation) 1.3

I really don't understand why so many people have such a hard time with this? The file name shows 1.4b, and during installation, it simply states it will upgrade any version from 1.0 thru 1.3....up to 1.4b

Makes pretty good sense...to me anyway

I had an otherworldly amount of problems with the installs, twice, which I finally managed to trace down to some odd files that must've belonged to GWX 1.03, before I went back to vanilla when preparing for GWX 2. I needed to make sure was all, because I'd normally attempt to install several mods after the 1.4 patch, and somehow I'd always end up with a sun the size of half the sky, or similarly odd environment effects.
