Default Problem

After loading a saved game, I experience a small problem...
I noticed that the first time I spotted a ship and went to periscope depth to intercept and sink it. After getting pretty close to it (about 1000 meters), I saved my game and kept on with the attack. I wasted 5 torps to hit, so I decided to load the game and try again with less torpedoes (I dont like ot waste them :p ). But after loading, the ship wasnt anywhere! And even worse, The course I had plotted in my navigation map had been erased and some marks and ruler drawings were erased as well. I am running RSRDC Career. Can anybody help?

As a rule of thumb, don't save in the vicinity of other ships, and while submerged. The saving routine is a bit bugged. Happy hunting, Admiral

Saving submerged is fine in the stock game. What is more likely is the game restore always sets your map to a default zoom, but your marks and plots on the map might have been created with another zoom level. Try zooming in and out a bit and you might find your marks return. I frequently save just before getting into position to attack and have no problems with the save restore surfaced or submerged in the stock game. Also make sure you are patched to V1.4.

Here's a piece of advice for you Admiral: make it a habit to save often and in various slots. I had at least 4 or 5 different saves for each patrol I had embarked on. My hard disk hated my guts but hey, the feelings were mutual, so there! :p
Kalo ta3idi filos!

ETA: if my last sentence looks all greek to you, well, it actually is! :rotfl:

I hope your HD is in good shape. I've had the game since day one and haven't had a corrupt save yet.

Happened to me once. I was running a test mission and saved while submerged and with a DD starting off its attack run on me. That save caused a CTD whenever I tried to load it. So, as we medical scientists say, prevention is better than a cure (or in other words, better safe than sorry ).

Like other say never saved game near ships when you have version 1.0 when you will patch it, you can save even in the middle of task force. Good Hunting.
