Default GWX 2.0 Audio glitch...

Has anyone else noticed the glitch with the new electric engine sound or is it just me.

There seems to be a creaking sound in there (like the hull creaks), and because its on a short loop it really bugs me, especially at flank speed.

Its definatly part of the electric engine sound file as it changes with the speed setting.

Maybe ive only noticed this as i play with headphones, i love the new swish-swish engine sound but that darn creak really spoils the effect!

Yeah, I also heard some noise there...but it sounds different on my machine (nForce2-Ultra400 sound, top-range Sennheiser headphones), more like the crackling sound of old grammophone-records.

Just for a test try this one:
http://files.filefront.com/Electric+.../fileinfo.html
This is just to find out if it's a sound file problem or mixer setting.

Well i found the file in the sounds folder and there is no creak, so it must be a mixer thing.

Audigy 2 + Big fat (and cheap) sony headphones, although i doubt this issue has anything to do with either my sound card or headphones.

Hi, this is an edited version of the sound taking out some droan & click noises, also resetting waveform at beginning and end, see if this is better, the mixture setting for this sound is basically stock, only the priority has been lowered slightly & this wouldn't cause any sound anomilies.

I use this now but really didn't have the type of problem you have, if you are still having problems you may have to record it and upload for analysis.

Interesting: with this file crackling is even worse: like it is played from old gramophone :hmm:

I do actually... you are hearing the whine of the electric engines. Not to say it may not sound a bit screwy through certain hardware

As I say that noise is made from an actual U-Boat recorded with a hydrophone.

I can hear the whining of the engines, and it's a great sound...definately an improvement over 1.03 (my compliments).
But the crackle I (an others) hear, is really like from static electricity sortof....I'm sure you're old enough to remember, how a record could sound.
It's not a big issue, though....if I lower treble a little, it becomes less clear.

Nothing beats excellent hearing & 1stquality headphones.

*edit Reece, your soundfile didn't make much difference...indeed, maybe it sounds even worse.
Maybe it's a matter of audio-channels...due to my headphone setup, I play a 2.1 system.

Aye 'sounds' like you have the big chunky headphones like I have [the type you couldn't walk down the High Street with .. heavy].
But, hey, we don't need those Snehh .. Sneissh .. posh headphones

Strange, both work fine on mine & as I said mixer is stock except for priority level lowered from 128 to 114, that would have nothing to do with crackling noises, does the crackle noise change pitch with changing of engine speed? KL just pointed out that GWX 2 comes with "Enhanced Damage Effects" option, this has another version of the mixer file, if this is used try disabling it and see.
