I thought I'd visit Truk, like in the good ol' SH days, being there was always something cool to shoot at. I slipped in from the south, in the " deep pool" and hid there. I sank a mine sweeper and a momi patrol boat. There wasn't much going on there, so I though I'd penetrate deeper into the lagoon. There was a Fuso and 2 Yamatos! I fired my remaining 2 stern fish at the Fuso and everything else at the Yamato at about 5000 yards. At that point I exited the lagoon as fast as possible.
Instead of exiting the same way I came in (there was a sub chaser patroling the entrance to the deep channel) I made a straight line for deep water via a large area of shallow water. I had almost made it, when there were a bunch of explosions and 2 destroyers had materialized outta no where. The screen was twitching (for lack of a better word) really bad and I wasn't moving. As it turned out, I had lodged myself in the middle of the net! I couldn't surface, I couldn't reverse, it was pretty much game over at that point. The USS Drum has a lot of holes in it now.

I ran into one by accident on one patrol. I knew it was in certain areas, but I thought I was clear of them.

I can't wait tell someone runs into one of my reworked minefields.

Are they pretty much where the SH4 folding map shows them to be or did you get "sneaky"?

I did not change their locations. I made them a bit thinner in width, but alot thicker in density. Where as before there was probably 1 mine per square KM, there are now 5 mines per square KM.
That and i raised the depth of them. The way they were stock, not only would have to be incredibly unlucky to blunder accross the 1 mine in an entire square KM, but it was at a min depth of 160 feet in some places (meaning it was 160 feet, and downward). They may as well not have existed at all. How now they can be bobbing around at say... 67, or 70 feet or so, and deeper. Maybe shallower in some places. Not all minefields are the same depth, i only raised the depth of the more stupid ones. |

Is it possible to escape the submarine net? My plan didn't work: flank forward, reverse, emergency surface

As for escaping a reef? I don't think there is a way I'm afraid. I hope you're in the habit of saving often ![]()
