Default Using Stadimeter unlocked ?

I think I should be able to use the stadimeter without the periscope locked on a target. Basically I want to be able to input all of the TDC data without exposing the periscope for an ambush shot similar to the Richard O'Kane attack method described elswhere but with range info input to the TDC from a plot.

I've searched and can't find a thread on it.

Thanks in Advance

That's because you can't. This is one of the single most aggravating/idiotic "features" of this game after all the patching and mod'ing so far.

This is definitely sucking.

Here I am off the coast of Honshu re-creating the Tang's fourth patrol. I've spotted 3 ships on the horizon and can't use Richard O'Kane's 100 foot mast height until we know better method.

The O'Kane method "taught" elsewhere in this forum doesn't require any special input for range. The only reason range is sent to the TDC is to set the bearing. The plot is used to determine a target's heading and speed.

:hmm: Please explain the "100 foot mast height" option.

You're referring to the "gaming" method. The OP was referring to the real deal. Both O'Kane and Beach (that I can recall at the moment... prolly others as well) wrote extensively about estimating mast head height to generate a range input for the initial plot. Can't do that in SH4. And that sucks.

Default yup, I'll jump aboard that train.

Our TDC should have been made to accept all digital input from the keyboard for all parameters, just like the real thing.......oh, it didn't? Cut!!! Take two.

OK, our TDC should have some way of inputting manually for all parameters, plus automatic input from radar, just like the input from sonar. As a matter of fact, without those fixes the game is fatally flawed. How Ubi can think this sim is a finished product with such a lousy TDC is baffling. We should call Ubi every 29 minutes politely asking them to drop dead until they CUT!!!!!!!!!! Let DavyJonesFootlocker handle it. You're outtta here.
