It's not hardcoded but it's all or nothing.

Either Rain or Snow, you can't have both.

If it's not hard coded, could you use SH3 Commander "random" for the winter months.

Are you sure? I just check SH3 Commander and didnot see a "random" option. So how can it be activated?

Look in SH3Commander Folder you'll see a folder called Random. Many people use it to automatically put music into the game on correct dates.

In SH3 Commander there are Random folders allowing for randomised files to be issued. There are also Date folders which enable certain files to be issued per date. Example dated pinup pictures by month, dated messages etc.

Theoretically if there is a file that allows snow then that can be set to be issued from a certain date onward. The "rain" file would be issued again in late winter/early spring lasting until the snow file kicked in.

But if you use the random option as well, you would not know if you'll get rain or snow during your winter patrol. If it snows then it will snow all that patrol instead of rain and vise-versa.

I would use a combination of a few things...

Firstly, I would only want snow if I'm "up north", say in 11 Flot careers, certainly not in the Med or Indian. Secondly, I'd only want snow during the winter months, albeit variable each season.

With this in mind, as SH3Cmdr has a limitation on combining flotilla data with date-based data, I'd create a JSGME package which I'd install into SH3Cmdr when I played in 11 Flot campaigns or when I was posted up that way in 1944 (in other words, I'd install a copy of JSGME into my SH3Cmdr folder and enable a package that alternated rain/snow files based on dates throughout the war - yeah, it means duplicate copies of the same files, but it's a simple solution).

I'd then disable when leaving 11 Flot to return to rain all year round.

FWIW I wouldn't use the Random folders for this task simply because of what "The Bad Wolf" stated - I'd find that too annoying.

But weather is unpredictable even in winter, which surely means you have to have a random factor somehow. In England it doesn't snow every year.
