newbie with more questions

1. Is there a way to control the views in the torpedo view screen? The present view just circles around the torp, I was hoping for it to be like SH II.

2. I do not have a full screen window. Graphic setting at 1280x768x5:3, the screen is full side to side but not top to bottom, I can see the desktop. How can I get a full screen?

I am runing a Dell Inspiriron 530 with a 256 Radeon ATI HD 2600XT video card on XP Home

1: No (as far as I know)
2: try a setting that has 4:3, so no widescreen.

I see a lot of references to mods, Where do I get them?

If that's actually your desktop you see above and below the game screen, you must be in windowed mode. Go into your graphics preferences and make sure that's unchecked.

I got the full screen as you suggested, but still can't see torp run on nav screen?
Any ideas

Torpedos do not show their run on the overall world nav map. You have to be in the battle planing action map ... (the second icon from the left) in order to watch your fishies run.

I got the attack screen and see torps.
