I've been trying to install the new GWX 2 onto my system.
When I attempted to install after deleting old SH3. I loaded the 1.04b patch before getting the STAR request. Got error from STAR. Deleted all and started again. Installed SH3, No request from STAR. Ran SH3 w/o problem Patched to 1.04b. GWX 2 install ran smoothly (surprise?). Tried to start SH3, got msg from STAR that the mission engine dll was invalid. Deleted & started again. Now STAR comes back with "ERROR" and offers info. Deleted and went back to 1.03, where I'll remain until I figure what went wrong. Any help would be much appreciated. I have the D/L to Drive version & approp. patch I have DVD version somewhere (my wife packed it when we moved and I've not seen it since. Subtle hint??) I can provide the info, but I'll have to re-install again to get it. (I was dumb for not copying it off, but I was pretty sure it was a bad install by me, so didn't). I've always been able to find great answers to my SH3 issues (and even some of my others) on the forums and it's really added to my game quality. Thanks in advance. Kuch |

Hi Kuch. Welcome to Subsim.
![]() If user support gets a bit thin over the next few days... I'm sure you'll understand. For now, here is what I suggest: It seems to me that lots of users are just going in and manually deleting their old SH3 installation. This won't do... as residual files that will cause patching to fail often remain. Use the game disk itself to uninstall SH3 completely. Then go into your program files/Ubisoft directory to then manually delete any old mod files etc, that belong to SH3. Then reboot. Install SH3 Reboot Install version 1.4b ubisoft patch for Sh3 Reboot THEN install GWX 2.0 Reboot one more time just to make sure all is seated properly. Then attempt to fire up GWX. Assuming you are successful, come back and let us know! ![]() |
