Virtual Cable™
Our invention, called Virtual Cable™ is a unique display for a car navigation system. The driver sees the Virtual Cable™ image through the windshield. It appears as if suspended over the road, similar to a trolley cable. The image is in true 3D and appears to be a natural part of the landscape. The driver uses only peripheral vision to follow the Virtual Cable™. The Virtual Cable™ is so powerful, intuitive, unambiguous and safe because it appears and behaves with true 3 dimensionality within the landscape. Simulation Videos Below are video simulations demonstrating the Virtual Cable™. These videos are limited by the 2 dimensionality of your computer screen. Nothing we can show on a flat screen can prepare you for the impressive way the Virtual Cable™ looks within the real landscape. NOTE The Virtual Cable™ image has been drawn manually and it shows a certain amount of wobble. The real Virtual Cable™ always appears stable within the landscape. ![]() http://www.mvs.net/index.html |

Good idea for a road in the desert, like that one, but not so good in New York where tall buildings annihilate the concept of looking at it go at the turn. The 3D effect will be ruined unless it knows where the buildings are and hide behind them, that is, don't display the red line over a building so that it appears that it's actually turning behind it.
Otherwise it's cheating, it's a wallhack. :rotfl:

I rented a car for our vacation last summer and first thing when I got going noticed the MPH display being thrown up on the windshield....it was so annoying and distracting to me having to drive a few hundred miles I told my wife I had to pull over and shut that damn thing off.....was very distracting to me....I like a clean windshield and at night also clean in and out so no glare....looking at those pics on the site...how annoying to have to look at that...especially for other not driving having great views with that in them all the way...
allthough I admit while playing flight combat with the hud displays I do ok...maybe its all in the conditioning. ![]() |
