Default Sub Destroyed When Reloading Saved Game

I've heard of people experiencing their sub sustaining catastrophic damage and a death dive when reloading a saved game, but it has never happened to me in all the years I have been playing SH3. Last night I saved and exited my game before going to bed; when I got up today and loaded my saved game, my sub was submerged at great depth, taking its death dive and finally perishing with all aboard. I have heard that this is caused by loading a game that was saved while submerged, but I am almost 100% certain that I was on the surface when I saved and exited my game last night. This is the only time I I have ever lost a career to a save-game issue.

I am playing with GWX2 and a few of the mods that came with it. The weather was: 15 mps winds, heavy precipitation and heavy fog. I tried a quick search of the forum, for this surely must have been covered already. I also looked at the community manual on Wiki but it is not listed under the known bugs list. Any help appreciated. Thank you.

:hmm:

Go to

C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\GWX\data\Campaigns\Campaign

Open the SCR\RND and LND with notepad

Look for the line

WindSpeed=4.000000

Make sure it = anything except 0
Make sure all 3 files have the same = number too

Then save
Should solve it

Thank you, gentlemen. I shall save this for future reference. For now, I simply abandoned that particular career and restarted; there were a few others settings I wished to change, so I am not overlywrought with grief over that one. The knowledge gained was worth it.

Damn, it just did it again! Something's not right somewhere; I definitely did not save and exit while submerged. Same deal, though, lousy weather. I'm going to try the advice you folks gave me.

K-61
have you followed P_Grey's steps to change the windspeed values.

i'm certainly not computer savvy and those steps, for me, were easy to follow.

Just ran the fix and it worked fine. Thank you for the advice.

I should be clear on what happened. The first time it occurred, I threw away the career. Then I posted my question and received the solution. I then started a new career, but had a power cut [see my thread about battery backups.] I then reloaded my saved game and that's when it went crazy. I posted the above, but while it was reloading. Anyhow, finally got to try it for real and it works just fine. Weird, that, how I have played all these years and had no issue with a saved game until now. I am using GWX 2, SH3 Commander with a few GWX mods and the SH3 Weather generator mod. I'm beginning to wonder if that may be the culprit. Further experimentation to follow.

Thanks for the suggestions. When I get my system running again I'll ditch the weather mod.
