Not sure where to begin....
On one of my PC's I play with TM-1.6.5 and wanted to try RSRDC (for TM). Downloaded v110, played it, liked it, then got to May '42 and got the CTD. Started looking at the mission files and found the invalid ship types which I corrected. Then, with Lurker's guidance; I copied the .mis files from RSRDC v118 over to make a TM-1.6.5 compatible version of RSRDC. Been playing it and it runs just fine. So...on to the questions: Stupid Question #1: In order for the game to load and play correctly, the .mis files for the time period of play are required to have ships, planes, etc which correspond with the same named entries in the \Roster folder AND have corresponding folders with .dds and/or .sns files in the \Sea \Air or \Land folders ? Surely its not that simple. What am I missing ? Stupid Question #2: How does patch 1.4 affect the above ? Stupid Question #3: So, in the future, if I wanted to copy new .mis files from a newer RSRDC or other mod; is it just a matter of - - installing the mod; - opening up each .mis file and making sure the ships, planes, etc in explorer match up with the \Roster, \Air, \Land, and \Sea folders ? (What I saw with v110 is that I got an error message that a listed ship type in group xxx was invalid or something to that effect when I opened the .mis file with the mission editor.) - So, what if there is a new ship or plane ? Can the applicable files from \Roster, \Air, \Sea, etc be copied over (from a 1.4 patch compatible mod to a 1.3 patch compatible mod) ? Eventually, I'll migrate to 1.4 and the 1.4 mods. Right now, I like playing with ROW and I like the way the TM-1.6.5 AI is tuned. And, I like RSRDC over it. |
