My computer corrupts the GWX2 bin files.

Hi, I had to reinstall the GWX2, but everytime I run the installer once, and am successful, for somereason, my computer corrupts the .bin files. I can't figure out why it does this but is a real pain to reinstall SHIII everytime a corrupt .bin file ruins it, and then I have to redownload all the .bin files. It's become a real pain, because as soon as I fix one .bin, another one goes bad, forcing me to redownload those, it's getting really old. How can I make my computer stop corrupting the files after I use them?

Hmmm
How odd

To save D\L them again make another copy of the bins before use
That way you have a back up

Not heard of bins being corrupted in that way before
Mine sometimes come down corrupted due to various issues but once they are o and down they stay ok

Once you have GWX 2 installed OK you can make a back up of that install too
Just in case you need it

I always have a back up of patched stock and a back up of GWX - normally another backup which I use for testing etc

I suppose depends how much space you have

Before I downloaded or reinstalled anything...I would:

Run an anti-virus checking program on the machine.
Run a spyware checking program on the machine.
Cleanup and defragment the HD's.
Check the HD to make sure it is working properly.

It almost sounds like you have a HD issue itself that is corrupting things...but that is only a guess...

I plan to copy the newest one somewhere else before installing this time.

And I usually do have two installs on my system, stock, and GWX.

I'll just copy them everytime I need to use these I guess.

I almost though that it was my HDD too, but why would it only do it the GWX bin files? They are the only files that have ever had this problem.

would be better to burn them to a CD or DVD right after download is complete.
Then you can copy the files back to your computer every time the files get corrupted.
IMo it has nothing to do vith a virus.

Before I used the newest ones, I copied them to an external hard drive, so they should be safe.

I've had similar issues with large archives getting corrupted when I copied them around, it turned out to be a bad stick of memory.

Smaller files seemed to copy fine, but when I copied a big file (DVD Iso) from one drive to another they would occasionally get corrupted

There is a freeware windows memory checker Here. If it picks up errors you definitely have a problem but it is not 100% reliable at finding bad ram. To be sure you should download a bootable CD image & use that.
When I had my issues the windows mem test app did find errors tho...
