Default GWX Question

This may be a GWX Question I don't know, the only Mods I have installed are GWX and the latest Commander My question is with the sound in game, its in reverse (ie) I hear the boats engine and props at the bow and the wake and splash in the stern. this is just a couple of the problems but like I said everything is in Reverse sound. If anyone has any idea what could be causing this I would appreciate a slap upside the head as my ignorance probably has something to do with it<img>

Did you install like so ? :hmm:

1. Uninstall SH3 via Windows' "Add/Remove programs"
2. Open Windows Explorer and:
- *delete* the folder where you had installed SH3
- *delete* the \My Documents\SH3 folder
3. Reinstall SH3
4. If your SH3 did not come with patch v1.4b already included, install patch v1.4b. Ensure you install the patch that corresponds to your copy of SH3 (Download/DVD/EMEA/US)
5. OPTIONAL: Copy and paste this "clean" install as a backup to avoid the need to follow steps 1-3 if your game becomes corrupt in future
6.Download into the SAME folder GWX.exe and the five .bin files. While there grab the v1.03 patch
7. Run GWX.exe and follow the installation prompts
8. Run GWX103.exe and follow the installation prompts
9. SH3 COMMANDER USERS: Download the GWX 1.02+ Cfg files for SH3 Commander and unzip the contents DIRECTLY into your SH3 Commander\Cfg folder.

Well I did everything you described above except for putting the bin files in the SHIII directory folder, it was my understanding that these files didn't need to be placed in the folder, if they should is it to late to put them in now or should I just go ahead and start over?

Well I did a complete overhaul and reinstalled everything for the hundreth time since going with GWX and I still have the same prob with reverse sound so I think it may have something to do with my system settings somewhere and not the mods so I'm off to troubleshoot my system to figure this out, thanks for your help BB and Jim.

Hope this doesn't seem like a silly suggestion, but have you checked your speaker connections? Perhaps you mixed up the front and rear cables at the back of your PC if you have a 5.1 system or similar. Likewise, it's possible to connect them wrongly if each speaker plugs into a subwoofer separately.

Also, how about your sound card drivers or Windows' Control Panel? Some sound cards I've had in the past had a "reverse stereo" option which could cause this effect.

If you're looking around on the bridge and find the engines are in your right ear when you're looking out to the port side (and vice versa), this might explain it. However, if you move the free cam around and find the engine sound is louder at the bow, then it seems something is very wrong with your game files!
