Default Victory has many fathers, while defeat is an orphan

Why don't we hear this?

As President Bush recently told U.S. troops about Anbar province: "It was once written off as lost. It is now one of the safest places in Iraq."

Many anti-war critics are so invested in the notion of the Iraq War as the "worst" something or other in U.S. history that they cannot accept the radical turnaround after over four years of war.

4 years of war?

Nooo! the war ended ages ago!

Thats the 4 years of peaceful occupation your thinking about.
Granted, there was enough civil strife to make it look like a war.
Easy mistake.

What was the civil strife during the Sadam regime?

What I'm thinking about is why don't we hear about progress in Iraq?

With all this *progress* being made I think I will holiday in Iraq. I've been craving some warm weather.

Then Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld et all should move to Anbar province once their terms of office are up. If it's so safe, they should go their and show all us stupid liberals how wrong we were. I mean, all it took to pacify the province was large infusions of cash and hiring locals for reconstruction, something they should have done throughout the country as soon as they took over. Go ask Kate O'Beirne's husband Jack why they didn't do that from the get go. So when are our troops coming home? Oh, sorry. I forgot. We haven't stolen all their oil yet.
