Default [WIP] New Depth Charge Audio File

Here is a file that will replace the depth charge sound inside the submarine. It is clipped from an actual Navy recording that was used for training soundmen. I have done my best to filter it, but I'm not a sound pro.

I ran it by an elderly gent I am aquainted with and he said, "That one wasn't very close". That's better than what he used to say about the stock sounds ie, "That doesn't sound like a depth charge".

It reminds me of what I've read in so many books. Roughly quoted, "Sit in a big barrel and let someone hit it with a sledgehammer."

Here's the link: http://files.filefront.com/Historica.../fileinfo.html

I'll wait for responses before I work on it any more for now.

This is just my little contibution--Dedicated to the other modders who have done so much more to make SH4 Great!

Update: I'm not really happy with this file--not enough volume or concussion (bass). So I've been working some more on it and will post my 2nd effort soon. It will be louder and have more of a "punch". If I can't fo it with the tools I have on my system, I'll take it into the recording studio where I do some work. Not sure how much more we can do there but the software is much more powerfull.

It's kind of tough to make this work like I intend but I'm determined. OLD analog to digital etc... In a day or two I'll run it by the vet I know again.

Cheers!

Keep us posted. I'm in the middle of a project at work that involves alot of noise removal from a crappy recording, so I kind of know how that is. Good luck with it because I'd sure like to have some more options for depth charge explosions.

I "think" it's getting there. I just need to figure out how to get cold water to spray out of speakers now .

I'm interested in your work here. I've got myself a 6.1 sound system so obviously i'm a fan of the sound aspect in games.

I'd agree that the default DC's just don't have that punch they should have. Although i've never been DC'd in real life I'd imagine it's a bit beefier.
