Mine runs on Vista-64 without a problem.

I assume you've got it patched?

Running as admin?

Sound card and Video card drivers updated?

I'm running SHIV on Vista Ultimate (32-bit) and not having any problems. Could you be alittle more specific as to what kinda of problems you might be having? Maybe include your computer specs for us to better help you out.

Don't install it in the /Program Files/ folder. I haven't and have no probs whatsoever.

Ditto here on Vista.... do as the others say, install in the root of the drive and run as admin. Also make sure they are patched AND YOU KEEP UP WITH THE DRIVER UPDATES!!! Especially if you have an NV Graphics card.

I have both SHIII and IV installed in a "SilentHunter" folder on the root of my C and they both run sweet

AMD dual Core +4800
GT8600
Viewsonic VX2025WM running at 1680 x 1050
4 Gig

Is your SHIII patched up?

I can't get the dang thing to patch.... I know that this is kinda a SH3 question, but I wanted to try out the new GWX and can't.....

Yup, I also have SHIII 1.4b, GWX 1.03 and SHCommander running fine under Vista. It is also in my user space, in "../games/ubisoft/SHII/".

If you've installed it in the default "program files" directory, the patch won't work - since Vista's UAC will cause the actual patch files to be written to the hidden "AppData" directory in your user space. And for SHIII to work, the patch files need to be in the actual SHIII program directory. Installing outside of "program files" bypasses UAC control, and the patch will then write the files where they need to be for SHIII to find them during loading.

Thanks a million guys, I can't wait to try this this weekend.

I'm primarily a USN guy, but really have been wanting to go for a spin in a VIIc lately.

Default SH4/Vista

Put this this in tech help also to span the answers...sorry if you read this twice.

So...I got rid of my old PC with the 1300X ATI mess and got a new rig that more than handels SH4. I had the usual issues that I read up on dealing with UAC on VISTA and thought I had it figured out.

After installing the game into the the usual root folder and the new folder outside of Program files (thinking it was a UAC issue), I get an error when I try to start the game: "This application has failed to start because d3dx9_32.dll was not found. Does this have to do with Direct X 9? I didnt install it thinking I didnt need it since I have Direct X 10. Any help out there would be appreciated before I mess up the new rig.....Core 2 Duo e4500 with 3G of RAM and NVIDIA 8300 and VISTA

Yup, that's a directx9 file - just install 9 as it lives alongside 10 quit happily.

Thank Seafarer...that was the problem. Not sure why, but I could use the regular root folder without UAC issues. Must be an update for windows that they improved upon since I just picked up my rig last week.

thanks again....good hunting!
