Default Silent Hunter 5.... Done right

Well Silent Hunter 4 has been shaping up over the last few months and with a xpack on the horizon, it looks like the developers havnt stopped for a break yet

what would everyone like from silent hunter 5? I know this has been brought up before but i thought id get my opinions in...

I would love to see the game brought back to the Atlantic, But with a completely overhauled graphics engine. Top weather effects like lightning and snow would be great, and of course if they could add wild life too Of course the graphics wouldnt have to be top of the range but it would certainly go along way with realism.

They could also work greatly on the games atmosphere. None of the SH games so far have had a crew that say more then the basic commands or move around the ship. Sometimes it feels like Im the only one on board

I have no problem with the Pacific theatre, It had the most powerful fleets and ships battling over a massive amount of water plus a massive Submarine campain....... I just dont feel that the atmosphere of the Pacific was captured as well as the Atlantic was in SH3

So... how would you like to see the next SH game shape up?

i have to agree...the feeling of the game are not the same as sh3...why i cant put my finger on. but i do like sh4 more and more. thanks to the mods for the game. but the feeling are not the same. and its more fun to play the bad side . but for me..I rather see a wwi subgame with sh4 grafiks then a new wwii subgame. its starts to feel old even if there are a new game. wwi game should be more fun, new boats, new subs, everything new. and you are not on the bad or wrong side. all side had wrong in wwi. I will sure get jumped on that one...but old record and old books that have been classifed have been open..and ups..the britts and frans wanted the war. any way...that war have not been grounded to bits in games as wwii have been. wwii starts to feel dam boring. time to get to a new war. and for me, i I have a big intresst in the world war 1 and 2. and this game have made me more intresst to read and learn stuff about the war. But why its not making games with wwi i dont understand. ok..this wwi submarine that was resent relesed was ok simulator way...grafiks was the worst game i have seen to hit the market this year and probley last 5 years too. dont get it how they can realese a game with that poor grafiks. so...wwi subgame with todays grafik is something i wants in sh5. but i guess i will not see it happen.

sorry for my bad english.

I disagree.Even though the Atlantic and Pacific WW2 escenarios are ok,I think its time for SH to move into the nuclear age on its first stage.New powerful machines in search for days close to Poliarny,Murmansk or Groton with its full ballistic load, also attack submarines aswell.
New features could be the implementation of nuclear explosions if a Poseidon or Trident missile is launched. Here would be the thing, the captain s common sense,or in case of receiving the order, the mission of its enemy, sink the ballistic sub.
Also a new camera movement would be desirable along the sub,the same way is done on Ship Simulator 2008,via keyboard you on first person are able to walk forward, back, sidewards and turn around,so aswell to get closer to the panel you need. This way,a more complex sub can be built, with more interior compartments and decks,we have also capability to climb-descend stairs for this.
So,for the first time detailed nuclear subs could be built, implementing detailed 3D Stations like Control room,Conning tower,Commander room,Nuclear Reactor Control Room,Ballistic Missile Compartment and Torpedo Room, all them connected the way I said before.

I really think this would be a pretty realistic new SubSim.

Best Regards.

I believe that the next subsim we see from Ubisoft will most likely be a modern day Naval warfare sim, either real or fictitious. I think that by giving the modders the ability to create a full Atlantic campaign with the SH4 'Add On', Ubisoft are signing off on WWII subsims for now anyway.

Just my two cents.

My opinion worth excatly .02 dollars :

Push SH5 out a long way and keep expanding what we have with 4. Playable subs to eventually include British, Italian, Japanese and maybe even Russian (assuming all US and German boats are available). Every theater of the war covered. Wolfpacks. More AI options. Possible player controlled Escorts for head-to-head play.

There is so much more that could be covered in X-packs. The basic working/graphics models are good now to the point that starting from scratch seems rather unnessecary.

If there is a change of direction toward Nuc boats, I think it should be a different series. Say--The Nuclear Winter 1 . I've had fun with modern subsims but I prefer WWII operations.

Again--just me 2 cents...

I agree with alot of whats been said.

I would have no objections to a WW1 Silent hunter, I recon that would be great
It would be a nice change of pace and the first world war had such interesting naval history

I would also love a cold war Silent hunter, The Submarines were the main threat to both soviet and american homelands during the war (although not alot of action happened with the subs) plus it would be so exciting carrying aload of ballistic missiles onboard

Then the idea of adding more and more to SH4 makes perfect sense too, Theres alot that can still be done, but i assume after this xpack it will mostly be down to the modders to make that happen

Not to crush stabiz dreams but im not 100% sure they used submarines during the time of the east india company

If Ubisoft wasent so lazy and ignorant to certain important features to any subsim (Namely Wolfpacks) They could make a great Atlantic Subsim, their first two tries had to be improved by the community to be Great German Atlantic Subsims.

If Call of Duty 4 can work well in a fictitious modern war (forget that the single player campaign is a bit short, it still works), I think a modern SHV can work too, fictitious or not. Give it a twist though - play the Soviets in a fictitious modern war!

Nothing is more silent than a wooden fortress sailing through fog with all men on battle stations! I love the idea of walking along the sailing ships, and blasting holes in stuff. Actually, I`ll go for anything that includes blasting holes in something.

SH5 should be the Atlantic war but it comes with Destroyer Command 2 <-- Yeah thats not going to happen but it would be good if it did, picture this you start up a career and can choose either to command a Uboat or take command of a british Destroyer and go sink some uboats! Multiplayer would be a blast, one team in uboats attacking convoy other team as the destroyers.
I also like the idea of moving to modern day subs.

SS2 was in the pacific and I still prefer it to the Atlantic. Granted that it is my backyard though so i'm admitting bias.

SH5... I'd like a global game, like what I hope UBI will do with SH4 through add-ons. I want to play all nations subs if I want to. A British campaign would be very welcome but I also want to be able to choose a USN campain, IJN or head out in a U-boat.

Don't forget the Dutch either, they fought hard to stop the Japanese in the Pacific.
