Default Problem with SH3

After a month of being unable to play I started sh3 again. And when I got to main screen it went dark also mouse pointer left a trail behind.

After reinstalling the game I still have the same problem. And therefore it must be something on my system.

I could play the game b4 so why can't I now???

Have you removed EVERYTHING relating to the OLD install?
Make sure that the SH3 in My Documents is removed, that ALL remnants of the old install has been removed (no folder called Silent Hunter III) under Programs, and the last thing I did was to remove EVERY reference in the registry to Ubisoft. Then restart and do a CLEAN install. That's all I can think of.

Perhaps others might have more information, but the above is all I did and the new install worked fine.

Hmm If I just rename the SH3 folder in my documents, and do a complete reinstall then can I copy my campaign back?

Yes, give that a try. Copy it to a different folder with a different name AND REMEMBER THE NAME OF THE FOLDER.

NO. you cannot have your backup copy called "SH3" as when you do a fresh install Ubisoft will put a new folder in "M DOCUMENTS" called SH3. So, call your copy, "BackupSH3".
