I ran across this site, it’s the Chicago’s Museum of since and industry U-505 virtual tour. I haven’t looked at the whole site just the pics and it looked interesting.

Makes me wish for more modeled compartments, and more dials and switches to fool around with. (Still my big gripe with SH4 - less interactivity with the boat!) |

I'm just glad she's inside now. When I toured her, she was still on the old outdoor display. While a superb tour, from the outside you could see how the years outside was taking a toll. Being inside in a nice, properly climate controlled environment is much better for the continued display of such a great piece of history.

I took the tour back in '62. Don't remember much. It's too bad you can't actually go through her anymore, but yeah, preservation is most important.

Nice find Tireboy, thanks! Just in case anyone has had a less than pleasant experience with Quicktime, Google for Quick Alternative. It's much less intrusive and converts Quicktime files into a Windows Media Player Classic format. I just installed the latest version so I could take the U-505 virtual tour and it works like a champ! There's also a Real Alternative if you want an alternative that lets you view Real Player by converting to WMP Classic as well.
