Question about explosion sounds in SH4

Do your explosion sounds seem to abruptly cut off instead of lasting through until they naturally fade? This goes for both above and below surface explosions. I wonder if it's my in-game sound settings or something else. I have all the sound options enabled and the channel slider all the way to the right. My sound card is an X-Fi with updated drivers.
