How many units do you people have on your installations? I would like to know if anyone has heavily modded installs with lots of community created ships & aircraft - such as the GWX 1.03 vessels and single release ships - and what effect that has on your load times for Museum and Caampaign mode.

Using only GWX 1.03 ships (with the Sh3 Commander files) Museum takes the longest to load . Initial game load maybe a minute / minute and a half, mission 2 to 3 minutes, museum up to 4 minutes.
Used to have 1 Gig of Ram, just upgraded to 3 Gigs. Load times seem to have improved some.

My rig loads ok but I never look at Museum any more.
I wonder if I move the file to backup if it will cause ctd. I haven't had a ctd since it's been installed. GWX 1.03 that is. And I don't want to screw it up now. Anyone Know ? |

with GWX 1.03 and a slew of other ships and aircraft and all it takes about 1 minute to load.......but I also have dual Raptor 150's in a RAID 0 on a crosshair MB with an OC'd FX-62 providing the horsepower. Everything is fast.

Hmm. Interesting results. My load times for missions and Museum seem pretty normal - maybe better than average since I have GWX plus my own modded ships.
I was wondering since I want to add as many ships as possible without bringing people's system to a crawl. Racerboy, how is the noise from the Raptors? I wanted to get one but I don't like noisy drives, I don't want to run 2 in RAID and I would rather not reinstall Windows on the Raptor when I get it, so I'm not sure if it would really improve my speed/be worth it. |
