Default Most outrageous manually-targeted torpedo shot you've made?

Simply put I'd like to hear the tale of your "best ever" successful torpedo hit using manual targeting.

It could be your most difficult shot, or the most crucial in sinking a big-tonnage target, or whatever floats your boat.

Once, fireing a LUT Torepedo at a fat merchant ship, But I missed it completely and one of the escorts spotted me and was turning for an attack, just as it turned to face me the same torpedo smacks it. Talk about a lucky shot. Was able to sink two merchants after that before another escort came into view and I managed to slip away.

I'm quite proud of a shot I pulled off a short while back. I was trying to overhaul an armed large freighter that was making 9kts in very heavy weather and with me running low on fuel. My parallel track was about 7km away from the target and my rate of progress to obtain a firing position was abysmal. Although i could occasionally make 11 kts, i was constantly dipping down below the huge waves which slowed me down to 8kts.

Daylight was approaching, and with it the risk of being spotted and fired upon or aircraft turning up became acute and i realised i had to fire now or never, even though i was still about 7km away from the target.

I maneuvered to about the best position i could, set all torps to medium speed and fried a salvo of 4 in a spread to hope to hit it with some of them.

They all hit exacetly as i'd aimed. Sure it was redundant and in fact i got the she's going down message after the first two, but it was impossible not to be pleased with the result
