Tutorials & Examples
If I post any MoBo related tutorials and/or examples on other threads, I'll link to em here...
Is my plot from the manual correct? One possible way to solve the challenge question that appears in the MoBo manual. Intercept Math in Excel If the pure math behind the Constant Bearing Formula (i.e. Intercept Course) is of interest to you. 10th Patrol of U-53 - Radio Contact Intercept Using MoBo to intercept a target as well as a good step-by-step on SH3 manual targetting using Fast-90 tactics. Also includes a nice chart for a non-MoBo intercept using just the in-game drawing tools. The O'Kane Method Adapting Fast-90 tactics for use in SH4... Leave the PK off! This was my attempt at bridging the gap between SH4 and a favorite SH3 tactic. More O'Kane Tactics by Rockin Robbins Another nice tutorial, this one almost completely dismisses the TDC and relies more on sub position than working the gadgets. Advanced TMA Help Determining exact location and speed of a target with a plotted TMA track. TMA While Moving Analyze the bearings of a surface target while ownship is moving at 4kts submerged. Using predicted bearings to triangulate target position. Torpedo Spread Angle For a spread of 3 Mk18 torpedos travelling at 30kts, a 2° spread almost guarantees at least one hit, even if your AoB and speed estimates are off. You have a lot more room to be wrong with AoB than speed, and for close to 0° gyro angle shots, distance doesn't really matter at all. Attack Stationing - Simple Lead Plotting an attack station that will put you in position a specified distance in front of your target. Attack Stationing - 2 Leg Plotting an attack station that will put you in position for a 4 kt submerged final approach from well beyond visual detection range. The stealthy ambush. Stationing - OpSpec Chapter 11, Prob 1 & 3 Solving Problem 1 from "Chapter 11 - Maneuvering Board" of the US Navy Operations Specialist NRTC. Shows how MoBo can quickly find the answers using some special features, or you can do it manually as if working on a paper moboard with pencil. Also now includes an example of how to do a long-hand intercept calculation as-if MoBo were a paper maneuvering board. A MoBo solution for Problem 3 from Chap 11 is also tacked onto the bottom. Subtract Vectors Using the new "Subtract" feature of the Add Unit to determine CPA. Last edited by XLjedi; 08-02-09 at 09:08 AM. |
