Not sure what to do about this... seems it's something with my nvidia cards (latest drivers up to date). I get these gradients in the water visuals that appear smooth at first and then they decay into these ugly color patch gradients. Underwater it looks like wide bands of color, when surfaced you see an effect in the water similar to a cell shading art style effect.
Anyone have any trouble like that with nvidia cards? Here have a look: ![]() What's odd is even this still shot above starts out looking OK then it decays to the gradient. In fact as I type this the image looks wonderful in the text editor, but when I preview it, it looks cell-shaded... very odd. |

Yep.
With CRT monitors you don't get that problem. With LCD monitors you do. ![]() Have pretty much decided to live with it. |

I guess I didn't notice it as much with the stock underwater visuals... Sometimes it looks OK, when it's brighter out for instance.
Is it easy to rollback the water settings for the brighter stock display or is it just too many settings to bother with? I guess now I know why the devs originally set the colors to be perhaps a bit brighter than they should underwater. |

Too many settings to bother with.
I've suspected the same things you just mentioned regarding the brightness. The lines are less noticeable during full daylight hours. Anyhoo... not gonna fuss worry over it. |

Hmmm, can't recall seeing this on my 7950GT running 91.47 drivers. But it has been a while. :hmm:

The problem is there even if you are using an old CRT monitor, you just cant see it. LCD monitors give you more brighter image.
I didnt notice this with my old CRT monitor when in-game, but when I took a screenshot and brightened it up, I could see the lines. |

So at least momentarily it looks good. ...and then a noticeable change occurs. I was considering trying to take a picture of it with my digital camera cuz screen captures don't relay it. |
