Maybe they should take the U-543 instead as it still needs a home the last I heard of it.

I think that the Derry docks should be the home of the whole
Battle of the atlantic memorial.

set up like a preserved community with dress of the day
and as many ships subs and displays as can be coalesced
into one spot (HMS Whimbrel et al.)

with a mirror theme park in Halifax where lives
HMCS Sackville and it would be possible to move
HMCS Haida there

ah the dream.......................

also I agree that its a bit silly to try and spend the money
on raising another when they cant find funding for the one
that is already raised.

Well the index says she's a VIIC that didn't see any action.

I'm no salvage expert but what kind of condition do they expect to find her in? Given her depth and water conditions, what was left of U 534 for example.
