I sank their battleship!!!

For the first time since playing SH4 which is about month plus I finally sank a Battleship. It was Kongo battleship. Received a tip about task force coming my way so I set my crew and sub in a good spot and just waited silent running all stop. Let them come to us I heard running threw my mind. They came between 1200-1500m. I hit with 4 bow torpedo's made him tilt a little but he could not move so I hit him with my last two aft torpedo which brought him down. The thing I do get is I got credit for the kill but icon turned grey on the map also I sank a cruiser but did not get the credit anyone know why? It was funny seeing the scurry about trying to find little old me in the depths of Poseidon's realm. Might not be a big deal to all you Aces out there but for me it was a nail bitter. Arr
Now on my way to Northern Hokkaido. Wonder if they would mind me stopping over to GI alley in Misawa for a couple of pops or take a dip in Miss Veedol Beach. OOPS! Forgot GI alley was not there at that time guess I just have to wait till after the war.

Misawa AFB was great place to be stationed(92-95). I was part of the old 6920th ESG. Brings back some good memories.

Sure bet it was back then. The economy was ...well....tanking. Not so much these days, 114 yen to the dollar today. In Yokosuka now BTW.

Congrats! I don't think that sort of thing ever gets old. I know what you mean by a "nail biter", I have been in a similar situation a couple of times and it puts me on the edge of my seat.

on my way back from a successful sortie to the Celebes sea (I had 44k tons of shipping - including 3 large 10k tankers :P) I managed to get into perfect firing position for a large formation of b/ships. I put 4 torps into a Yamato b/ship, all within about 10 ft of each other (I shot them out as fast as I could). Unfortunately, she didn't even deviate one inch or knot

Thats 4 torps into the same spot....shoulda done something.

I found that the best place to intercept task forces is in the straight that leads up from the Java Sea to the celebes sea. Ain't no where for them to run. :P Once I got the location of the TF and its heading, I sat in its general path at periscope depth with engines off and just waited....what a beautiful sight to see about 4 BBs, seaplane tenders, etc sailing past...the only issue was that I didn't have enough torps.
