Default Libreville, neutral or hostile?

GWX 1.03, December 1941. Libreville is definitely red on my map, and even Sh3Gen gave me orders to sneak in and attack possible targets. So, after patrolling my assigned zone between Freetown and Lagos for a few days, I go check out Libreville.

Every single ship in the harbor I could find, including the only armed patrolcraft I saw, flew the french flag. (After seeing the flags on the only two reasonably sized ships, medium merchants, I moved around using the free camera and checked every ship I could find.) I even tried turning on time compression with the periscope up and could go over 32 (which is the limit for hostiles), indicating everyone around was indeed neutral.

So, should Libreville be hostile or neutral? Or was I just unlucky, not to find a fat enemy troop transport or two sitting in the harbor waiting for me? Or lucky, not to find hostile destroyers patrolling the area? (Depending on which way you look at it... possibly the latter way, because IX/C and shallow water are a bad combination...)

Off to check out Lagos next...

Oh, on another note... this is my third patrol in the general area, and on each of those patrols I start getting reports of an enemy taskforce in EK88 (just off the African coast), usually moving SSE at 12 knots. The odd thing is that I get such reports almost every day, sometimes several times per day, for the whole duration I stay in the general area (I think they start some time after I pass the Canary Islands.)

Try sailing up to the patrol boat. If he waves at you he's Vichy French if he riddles your watch crew he's Free French and pissed off

They were Vichy French. The Free French flag is different. That's what I found odd, because Vichy France is neutral, yet the port shows as red on the map. No enemy ships in there I could find, only neutrals.

Hi!

Libreville should be Vichy from the fall of France until November 12, 1940, when the Vichy garrison surrendered to Free French forces under General De Gaulle.

We'll take a look at it.
