Default 1.3 = No crush depths?

just did a full reinstall of the the game here and patched to 1.3 and the crush depths for all subs are broken, all of them can dive to 450ft and no damage/implosion, now surely that aint right? :hmm:

how has nobody else noticed this big flaw yet?

I have an install that has all the patches in order and I crushed when I was past crush depth for a min or so. Was at 150m when it happened.

450 ft is not very deep. Keep in mind that published test depths have a margin for error of more than 100ft (IIRC).

As a test, I changed the max depth values for some subs to about 400m.

They were able to make it to about 260m before implosion occurred.

However, they were STILL not able to last safely beneath about 125m. Puzzling, considering that the sub I tested this with was a Balao, and should have had no problem with depths around 175m.

With a stock Balao and no damage, I can cruise submerged at the max depth on the dial without any issues (the deep dial not the shallow one ). I also went to about 110m with a sugar boat and stayd there for a while without any problems - and lived to tell the tale.

Really?

I tried going past 100m with a stock Balao and it imploded around 160m.

Actually, it imploded around 10m, as the **** started to go down around 160m, and I started repairs and blew ballast.

You must've taken damage prior to that. Now this might sound stupid, but did you make sure you were in deep water when you tried to dive? :hmm:

How do we really now the implosion point? Those guys that kept going deep and did not resurface only know the real answer. I hang just below the crush depth on the meter. Perhaps I will give this a try to see just how far we can go.

Impossible.

I started a new career, outside of harbor (Brisbane), and dove not far from there. The water was over 1000m deep.

I managed to get my sub down to 525ft on one occasion when a freak TC accident caused my boat to sink from being surfaced. I managed to get her back up with a lot of compressed air. I thought my boat was going to sink and was half expecting the death sequence, but alas I was able to fight another day.

Nothing wrong with the crush depths, that's for sure. Although the subs can take quite a lot of punishing before they finally succumb to the pressure. Usually, stuff starts leaking and the subs starts sinking. You have maybe 30 seconds or so to get her up before she implodes. I was lucky once when I had been hammered by a DD for a long time, and was going down. Flooding everywhere, but I didn't implode until 860ft. So, it's random. After you pass crush depth, it's random when the sub is going to start taking a pounding, however the risk is greater the deeper you go.

ok how do we get lower than 450ft? every time hit the dive key blow crush depth it'll rise to crush depth. mind you i havn't tried since I installed 1.3

on another no. isn't that mark on the depth gauge the test depth?

On the expanded depth gauge it (the mark) is a rough approximation of test depth. The one on the shallow meter indicates periscope depth.

To go deeper press 'D' for dive as opposed to C for cras dive. Silly sailors will take the boat down till she implodes if you dont level off. Maybe this was changed in 1.3
