Man Overboard !!!

So i've played SH2 a long time ago and i thought it was an awesome sim, really enjoyed it ... however when SH3 came out my rig wasn't up to spec so i decided to put it aside for a while...time passed and here i am .

Sorry for the rather dramatic title but i am absolutely overwhelmed by the sheer number of the mods and add ons and expansions that are out there, and i would really appreciate your help.

I have a clean install of SH3 patched to 1.4b and i plan to play it a while to get the hang of things. Now from what i've seen there are 2 expansions : Sea Wolves Submarines on Hunt, GWX; an add-on : U-Boat Battle In The Mediterranean and other mods like NYGM, WAC, Uber (leaving aside the purely cosmetic mods for now) . I also see there is a nice tool JSGME that helps you organize the various mods ... well that's about all i know.

What i need to know is which of these are compatible with eachother , and what would be the best order to install them to get the most of SH3.

Last but by no means least respect to all those involved in modding and to the subsim comm

Welcome to the board Shiv,My personal idea would be to go with GWX1.03,of which there will be a new instalment soon by the way1.04which is just utterly brilliant and Sh3commander which makes your GWX experiance more personal and involving.as for seawolves and battle in the med thing I wouldn't touch with a proverbiale barge poleJust my personal ideas I must stress,I'm sure others will be along to recommend WAC & NYGM,I've never tried them so can't comment but they do seem to be popular as well

Don't delay. Download and install GWX 1.03 while you have a clean install.

I tend to disagree...

I would say play the standard patched version for your first career (at least 20 hours or so) and then go ahead and install GWX.

Otherwise you're not really gonna appreciate what GWX adds to the game. Besides, you might find yourself a tad frustrated with the enhanced difficulty of GWX.

Seawolves and the Meditteranean add-on are stolen community-made mods that are being sold without any compensation to the original modder. Don't get them!
I recommend GWX.

I personally would jump in at the deep end...don't get use to the DD in Stock. After using stock for a month I'm sorry I did, all the cool 'tricks' to get away from them I was using don't work and others e.g crew managment

Don't waste time jump straight in.

Welcome aboard, Herr Kaleun.

You can find a thread specifically about this matter using the SEARCH tab at the top of the page, that is, not to impose a negative and insulting attitude towards you.

You'll be back on board and sitting in warm clothes with a warm cup of coffee in your hands in no time!

GWX

And the Sea Wolvs and med mod are compleet BS. SW is a stolen version of the orignal Grey Wolves, and the Med mod is a bunch of stolen indapendent mods.

In other words. If you have to pay, stay away.

Wilkommen zum Subsim Herr Kaleun.

Give stock a whirl for a while then install Multi-SHIII which lets you run multiple installs. You can then use all the mods you want.

I agree with the choice for GWX, and I second what aaronblood said.

First play stock SHIII (1.4) for a while, get a good feel for the boat and all its stations
When you feel you master things, then install GWX and try to master that as well. It should give you something on hand for the weeks/months to come.

Oh and welcome shiv
