Default accurate ruler mod

I like to calculate target speed by mapping out the distance travelled and calculating the yards travelled in a minute, or three or whatever. However, given the inaccurate ruler provided it is difficult to get an accurate measurement of distance travelled. Has anyone made an accurate ruler mod which would fix this problem?
Thanks! Joe S

Page 60 of the manual:

"The error margin serves to avoid letting you precisely measure distances on the map and then use these measurements for firing solutions. Also it has an immersive value, which give a more convincing feeling of human error in estimations done on the map."

You mean there's something in the manual that's actually correct AND useful?

Does anyone know if the error margin is the same for measurement of short and long distances? Is it always a fixed percentage or are measurements of longer distances more accurate?

I never had any problems with determining speed from plot, but then again I use 3 and 6 minute intervals. And I know when the ruler flips from 0.8 to 0.9 that really means 0.85 and NOT 0.9. Right??? I hope...

We all know that range is the least important element in the firing solution. However , the inability to accurately calculate the distance travelled can result in a considerable error in speed estimation, which can definately cause a miss. this is especially troublesome due to the short distance that targets can be spotted which decreases the time available to track the target. joe S

True that. Must've caused many a premature gray hair on many a sub skipper's head.
