Default how to turn off background music?

The background music is getting kind of old and there are times when i just want to hear the sound of the boat and ocean, how can i completely turn off the music while playing the game. (note: am not talking about the gramophone)

In SH III I think the music volume control on the Options menu controls both the in-game music and the gramophone, so - if you want to keep the gramophone - the best way to get rid of the in-game music is to go to your

Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Sound\Music folder

make a backup copy of the sound files inside the folder and keep them somewhere safe ( e.g. a new folder named "MUSICBACKUP" ) in case you want to restore them and then simply delete the files from the data\Sound\Music file.

If this causes problems - it's a bit more complicated because you'll have to replace the sound files in the data/Sound/Music folder with the same number of identically-named files you have backed-up, but make each one, say, 10 seconds of silence. You'll only have to make one piece of silence and then simply copy and re-name.

It´s a long time since I did this, but you can turn music of in Options on the Main Menu. Should be in the Audio section and it does not affect the gramophone.

Hi, if you want to actually edit out any particular track just go to the data\Sound\Music folder & edit the music.cfg file by placing a semicolon in front of the line, example:

[NORMAL]
Tracks=1
Track1=Silence.ogg
;Track1=Stalker_1_Mix.ogg
;Track2=Stalker_2_Mix.ogg
;Track3=Stalker_3_Mix.ogg
;Track4=Stalker_4_Mix.ogg
;Track5=Stalker_5_Mix.ogg

[TENSION]
Tracks=5
Track1=Tension_1_Mix.ogg
Track2=Tension_2_Mix.ogg
Track3=Tension_3_Mix.ogg
Track4=Tension_4_Mix.ogg
Track5=Tension_5_Master.ogg

In this, only the music for "TENSION" plays.
You can also see how easy it would be to put your own music tracks in!
Cheers.
