Default A Fun Time

I'm currently working at our local convention center for a temp agency, and the convention is a bunch of different groups hiring statisticians. One of the groups is our very own National Security Agency. I've had fun trading jokes with some of them, but the clincher is part of their display: a one-each really truly gen-u-ine ENIGMA machine! I got to touch it, play with it and talk about it. They were impressed when I recognized it as an early-war machine because of its three rotors.

Anyway, that's my show-and-tell for the day.

Make sure to tell us if the NSA hires you.

Actually, they'll probably think you are a Nazi sleeper agent because of your ability to recognise the model. See if there is a white van with steamed up windows and lots of cigarette butts on the ground outside the driver's window, parked a little way up the street from you.:rotfl:

Black helicopters too. Glad to hear that you're still working, Steve.

I keep getting the image of the bit in the movie Taxi Driver, where Travis Bickle (DeNiro) is talking to that secret service guy:rotfl:

I could just imagine the NSA, coming after Steve, bundling him into the back of a black van, putting a sack over his head, etc.
Eventually, the sack is removed and he's in a room with a light shining down on a table and chair, on the table is an Enigma machine.
Then he's handed two pieces of paper.

Paper one:

Kreigsmarine M3 - UKW = C
Walzenlage = III, VI, VIII
Ringstellung = 9, 18, 14
Steckerverbindungen = AW IY UF DS ZP GV ON TC KQ XJ RH LB ME
Grundstellung = AFC
Kenngruppe = AAI, XSW, FJM, PWJ

And another piece of paper with:

LLGFX NCOKU WOOGH RTFFP ULCPK QTMKN EVLDB LUWHX DHCIM CBXIK EFAHV PRIHE RMRSY EOYMN PAEAH VNNUZ PDPKQ LKSSY LUQWY VHKTJ VDPWE HJSFM MJHJE VGRBU IIQSP I

Unfortunately I don't have a camera. Also, the show ended today. Sorry.

As for black helicopters and vans, I already joked with them about having to be fingerprinted and show my ID before they'd let me empty their stupid little wastebasket. They actually thought it was funny.
