Default Main career menu GWX problems

I'm running GWX with SH3Commander2.7.0.130. I was in 7/13th flotilla and got transferred from Kiel to St. Nazaire. All of a sudden I couldn't go from Main Career Menu to U-boat Options. I wanted to change from type VIIB to VIIC. But the right hand table won't go active. I can't change my boat. What's wrong? Is my savefiles corrupted. I tried to load earlier ones but no hope. I chrashed my sub on transition from Kiel to St. Nazaire. Deleted the killed save file and loaded earlier. I wanted "drive" my sub from Kiel to St. Nazaire instead pressing ESC and exit mission. I know that might corrupted my save file. This is my 8th patrol. about 200kt allied force down.

Was this a save from before you installed GWX?

Did you add any mods without rolling back SH3 Commander.

Is this happening directly after you have been transferred?

Are you actually in St.Nazare? Sounds as if you are at a friendly port and not in your home port. Upgrades are disabled if this is the case.

My suggestion is to conduct a patrol and if not playing at 100%, just load the patrol and sail out of port range and then press escape and choose 'Return to Base'.

I don't think you are in the base you think you are.

Edit - Just re-read your post, by the looks of it, you are still in Kiel and your base has been changed. You need to get to St.Nazare anyway you choose.

No. Clean install, patches and GWX. New career. 8th patrol. No mods without rolling back.

I was onroute from Kiel to St.Nazaire when I got killed (because I was stupid.) I reloaded last save which was in base before mission. Though it said starting location was St.Nazaire but game started from Kiel. Which was stange. I don't know why but on patrol 6 I noticed that I couln't go to deck gun or AA gun. But if I remember correctly I installed SH3 Commander between patrols 6 and 7. I was in port at a time. I went to St.Nazaire but I still can't go to U-boat Options. My guess is that this career is over. I wish I would know what messed my career so I could avoid it next time.

Thanks anyways!

PS: I'm playing at 90%. External views costs 10%. Yikes!

Well, a combination of two things "messed" your career: 1. the way SH3 behaves when reverting to previous saves and 2. the way you reacted when met with SH3's behaviour.

It's well known here (at least amongst the older Kaleuns) that SH3 gets a tad bit confused when you revert to a previous save. When you revert to a previous save, SH3 will still display some "current" information, including (but not necessarily always) bases and dates (that's the funny one to see).

You need to ignore this as SH3 should get itself back on track when you actually start the patrol (like it seems to have done for you - it said "St Nazaire" as the start base which is a carry over from your dead patrol, but then correctly started at Kiel, which is where you originally started the same patrol from, at least that's how your comments read to me).

If you didn't get the "Base changed" message during the "re-do" patrol, then you should have docked back at Kiel (for example, this time your patrol may have been shorter, thus not tripping the base change date).

Either way, I doubt your career is "messed". You just need to revert to a previous save, start at the base that it takes you to, and plan on ending AT THE SAME BASE. Then watch for any ingame messages that tell you that your base has changed and follow accordingly.

Note, in case it is not clear, St Nazaire is NOT your base until you get the "Base changed to: St Nazaire" radio message.

Base changes are a PITA in relation to save games, as anyone who's gotten the repeating "Base changed to:" message will attest.

Sorry it took few days. Only couple of hours of GWX time in week. The mission that I got killed was (I don't know correct words) a transfer mission. I was supposed to transfer from Kiel to St.Nazaire. Patrol grid was null. Meaning I was just to go from Kiel to St.Nazaire. I was killed and reloaded the earlier save (in port before patrol) in which I was supposed to go from Kiel to St.Nazaire. Mission briefing said anyways that starting point (?) is St.Nazaire and I was supposed to be transferred to St.Nazaire.(?) But it started from Kiel. I was in Kiel at the time. Ok. So I went from Kiel to St.Nazaire and pressed ESC and exit the mission. It said "Dock at St.Nazaire" or whatever it says when you are less than 10km away from your port. I docked. But no access to U-boat Options. I haven't done complete patrol from St.Nazaire but I doubt it will help. This career is dead. Or I could try to wade through WW2 by my Type-VIIB boat. I can't upgrade it but I can sure as h**l do some damage to allies before I go sleep with fishes.
