I have a humble opinion in regards to fuel consumption.I believe that we might give the Subs a little more legs,as I try to be frugal, but I'm always coming up short, and thus ruining a patrol.I know, turn off limited fuel, but I really don't wish to do that.I'm already at 85% with TM 1.4,and I try to keep it as realistic as I can within the way I like to play SH4.I decided not to mess with the icons not having pointers,so I will just have to adjust in lining up shots.I was hoping there would be line in cfg. that we might adjust to get a wee bit more mileage out of are boats.

Oriiginally I set the fuel to what was most likey the closest fuel setting the lead boat of a given class was. Most hover around 12,000 NM @ 10 kts, give or take a few hundred NM.
Later on i increased that slightly by making it (Historical range) @ 10.95 kts, which in effect added 1000 to 2000 more NM onto your range, higher then what is listed historically, but less then stock. Stock fuel settings are 15,000 NM @ 10 kts for all boats except S class and porpoise i think. In TM's support directory theres an optional mod that has boats with stock fuel ranges. If you need more fuel then that, well i cant help ya except to point you to TT's tweaker so you can adjust the submarines sim files to your liking. edit: Just FYI, optimum cruising speed is at ahead 2/3rds. If your putting along at 1/3rd your actually wating fuel and shortening your range. |

Thank you for your reply.I will follow your instructions.Excuse my stupidity. You have worked hard to get your mod as great as it is.I had no right to complain, because I had no data to back up my grumbling.

If you're trying to stretch range, Ducimus has hit right on. I find that 2/3 throttle is not 10 knots though. Would adjusting to 10 knots give me a tweak more range?
But my proviso is that sometimes max range isn't what you're looking for. You have an assignment to patrol Honshu island. This means you have to hang out within 75 miles of the star (correct me if I'm wrong about the range) for 48 hours and then phone home. So you use your compass and plot the 70 mile circle around the star (fudge factor there) and lay out a search pattern. You might just be interested in using as little fuel during the 48 hours as possible. Of course you could stop engines and use no fuel at all. But I'm sure you want to get some little bit accomplished while you're waiting for the periscope shears to rust. In this case, the lowest acceptable throttle setting will burn the least fuel during the 48 hours. Yeah, I know, it's obvious. Track your time. Don't forget to phone home! No credit if you don't. Now go kill something.
