Default Noob on board

Hi got a bit of time off work saw SH 4 on the shelves and thought well give this a try!!

Laggy slow load times, and I'm still offline! Trawling through the posts on this board already, ive uninstalled, defragged, reinstalled, rebooted, defragging again at moment. So heres hoping thats all fixed! (my puter is more than adiquate requirements)

Heres a few questions if anyone got time.

1. I have so far sunk a few junks with my rather crappy gun crew, and torped a few merchants. Fleets with protection kick me arse, I've met fleets 3 x and each time destroyers got me.

I recently had a perfect opertunity green lock on a cruiser, 3000 m fired 4 torps at 2700. droped attack perisope. dived to 50m. heard a few bangs boat kept sinking, tried emergency surface nothing kept sinking till i assume i exploded!

I've read a few posts about decoys hard right 3 knots dive will try to follow what depth do you guys go to?

2. whats the diffence between a mrk 14 and mrk 10 torpedo?

3. crew managment someone please explain what the hell is going on ? who do you promote? do you dismiss whats the red line next to em whats the green?

but so far so good!!!

Im sure ill think of a million more questions but dont wana bore ya!

Load times can be long, longer as your campaign progresses.

Might be something in here for you. I don't use them.

Welcome, im sure you will find all the information here that you are looking for

If you get sunk by DDs all the time you might want to reconsider your approach to your attack?
How do you play out your attacks where theres DDs involved?

Did you install the 1.3 patch?

3,000 meters is a tad far out for a shot but my guess is that the booms you heard were DC's.

Play a little while with external cam on till you get a better handle on situation awarness.

As far as load times, yup there long my record longest (at least the ones I have timed) was 13 minutes from startup to being in a mission.

There is a 'sticky' thread at the top of the fourms "tech help guides.... " with a great deal of usefull information. Im willing to bet at least 90% of your questions can be answerd there.

Welcome to the forums and happy hunting.

Well thanks guys the info you gave me was pretty damn good.

1. after reinstall it worked i could actually hear my crew"!""" grat tips on installing it properly.

2. reinstalled started a new career ''WHAT A DIFERENCE''

Had to photograph tokyo harbour...yea right well, on my way i stumble into the kongo, get in to 1800 m 4 torps dived to 150 m shart left sharp right silent all stop. It blew up!!!!!!!!!!!1

then into tokyo....and eventually got killed damn the battries, but some funny screen shots of me getting my ass whooped.

Anyway restart after sinking kongo left tokyo to heros went home, next mission sink merchants, no probs ran into a convoy 6 Destroyers!!!!!! I sunk 3 then his pals got me but this is like a 100% improvment

so THANKS

mmm cant find the pics i took i hit print sreen ? is that correct to take pics?

Not sure, I have always used ctrl + F11, remember to hit the . (del) on your numberpad to get a full screen-shot.

I don't believe "Prt Scr" key has ever been worth a dam since the birth of the computer. Anyway "ctrl + F11" puts a "Bitmap" image in your SH4 directory and you need to change that to a "JPEG", send it to somewhere like "Photobucket" ( lots of host on the web ). Copy & paste to your SH4 post.

And to answer your question as to why is it ctrl + F11 instead of Print Screen, well its the SH4 devs fault not ours. ( hey, I gotta blame it on somebody. :p )
