Nice, very nice.....

Can’t wait!

Only hope these Mod's and others still work:

Trigger Maru
360 DBP metric
Jap, US, GB Airbases
Sky environment
High res. Sun.

But I see there's no mention about the retirement feature in the fixes so I presume that at any given time within the let's say 5 to 6 missions when you normally get retired, you might get an early one instead.

Still think this isn’t right... I don’t mind the realism in game but you can over do it some what by ending it that fast...
Refitting and going back out is an option but I'd prefer a longer tour.

Hell while I'm at it..
What I'd like to see is that my effort in the campaign is affecting the out come of the war itself.

For example:

When I come across a taskforce with a few carriers and sink 1 or 2 of them the battle of the Coral Sea / Solomon Islands or others might not have happened or went down differently.
(one thing affecting the other)

I know this is a lot to ask from the Ubi crew and / or Modders but it still would be nice to see the outcome of the war. Keeps you wondering what the Japs will do next and make the game that much harder to play.

In a sense make the game more dynamic.

Anyway, I'll wait and see what the great Modding community is going to throw at us.. without them this game could get dull after some time.
A shame that I can't mod like most of you.. simply don't have the time to get in to the "how to" part of it.

Last but not least, I'd like to thank the Modding community for all their efforts in being able to bring that *oumf* which makes the game that more enjoyable to play.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

Lately I'm into RFB, mistakenly thought that realism was same as AI improvement. Doing everything on manual, training myself to only peak the scope now and than and learning to trust the tdc solution.

Before that I used to play the FTT/TMaru mod. The AI in there is greatly modified by Ducimus. I guess it's there, where I really learned to peak and shoot and than silently get out of Dodge.... (Alas, never got to meet Pete.....)

Beery explained that Jap ASW was lousy at best at the early war stages and only improved to a certain level, never to be the level of the allies in the atlantic.

I guess at a gameplay view, I'd like to have the realistic fleet boat Beery provides for the Pacific, AND the AI of the Japs to be as high standard as the allies were in the atlantic.
So, looking at your previous post..........Let 'm do their worst.......

That is definatley the case (curiosity got the best of me dnloaded the beta patch ). I was on me way to Luzon from Pearl in '42 to do a photo recon of a carrier task force reported to be in the harbour, when, about 250nm west of Wake island we get spotted by an enemy plane. Not a problem i think to myself, these AI pilots couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from twenty paces , well they showed me didn't they. One bomb hit very close stbd aft knocked out my diesel angines and caused flooding to the engine compartment . Yes i think that post 1.3 things are gunna get tougher

When ever it is, I will be doing my third installation! The people around here that got the "beta" said it was good this time around. I do wonder how much officializing they could have done between the beta leak and now...

Oh, I wouldn't worry about the AI. The merchants have gone completely insane, they don't "zig-zag" they "Let's change our speed and heading every second or so!". I expended 5 torpedoes trying to hit the slippery bastard before I got a decent broadside shot.

That was after the one of the DDs detected my periscope, sticking just up above the water, in rough seas at 2,000 meters. The depth charges are still nuclear warheads. The other two destroyers from the convoy quickly joined in on the fun and they created a circling line from which I couldn't escape, and closed the circle slowly, all the while depth charging the crap out of the water in between them. Despite decoys, silent running, and every other trick I tried, I died a horrible death in very short order when a number of their charges went off at 20 meters away.

Here's hoping that's tweaked a little bit in the final patch, or won't be "Silent Hunter 4" anymore, it'll be "Silent Hunted 4".

What about the old sneaking into the harbour trick , sticking the peri out of the water , warning sirens go of everywhere , then send the planes in to bomb my position . Never seen that one coming

The DDs are a lot more deadly now. They're more apt to spot your periscope now, and they will fire at you if you leave it up for too long.

On the negative side, the titanium periscopes are still there. Got rammed by a DD head-on, with the scope up, and he sails away engulfed in flames. Me, nary a scratch suffered.
