Default Any golf experts?

I am going to the company golf day on Sunday. Now I have hit a golf ball but not for a game.

Any advice? I hope to at least get off the tee in reasonable shape.

Good luck!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

So you have gone to a driving range, but not played on a course?

The best advice I can give is just stay very relaxed, retain a positive attitude, and have as much fun as possible with the folks you are playing with. Tell jokes to yourself if you have to.

And don't try to swing too hard. Just concentrate on a nice slow smooth swing. Momentum will do all the work.

Try to stay in the fairway. It is much harder to hit the ball out of "the rough" ( the longer grass that may or may not even be mowed)

Take your time putting. As the saying goes, "you drive for the show, but putt for the dough".

Keep your head down ... is my best advice.

Laugh at your mistakes, but don't waste time.

Remember there is a group of golfers behind you on a busy day.

Leave the turf the same way you found it.

Drink plenty of liquids, but remember those woods are for lost balls, not going to the restroom.

Don't talk about the boss behind his back.

Use your irons off the tees, yeah you will get made fun off, but will probably stay on the fairway and out of trouble.

Great idea!

You could probably play the whole course with a 5 Iron and a Putter.

Also remember

1. Don't drive your golf cart across the green or even too close to the green.

2. Don't put your golfbag down on the green.

3. If you land on the green, and leave an indentation, fix it, or ask someone and they will help you fix it.

4. Replace chunks of grass a.k.a. divots on the fairway.

5. Don't take your shirt off.

6. Be sure to set the break on your golfcart whenever you stop.

BTW: I have two friends who were banned for life from Andersen and Lindsey Golf Courses on Fort Knox for violating...simultaneously many of the rules above...including the rules below.

7. Don't lose control of your golfcart, so that it ends up on the other side of...Radcliffe Blvd (iirc).

8. Don't ram another golfcart with your golfcart.

9. Don't execute tank platoon manuevers on the golfcourse.

10. Don't try to climb over the fence to Gold Depository to retrieve ball.

11. And above all, don't get falling down drunk.

Recently went also for first time in ages...I used an Iron off the tee and did fine ...putting take time...chipping was very hard...if the iron keeps you on fairway then you will do good.

I hit farther with the irons than a driver cause of my lack of experience with the driver.

Don't take the advice of anyone that you are playing with unless they are a Pro.

Leave the driver in the bag unless you know how to use it.

Basically the lower club number the more skill you need. A 3 iron off the fairway may be difficult while a 5,6,7 iron is far easier.

Lastly, don't take it seriously. Just try and enjoy yourself. Good luck Xabb.

If only every golfer had those sorts of golfing manners on the course.

Actually I play about 4-6 times a summer with a group of lads, it is basically anything goes golf. Heckling is allowed, actually encouraged

Of course we respect other golfers, the course, but are hell toward each other.

I don't play this way all the time of, but when I do, it is alot of fun
