I looked in contacts.cfg and you can set what the various speeds of groups get labeled on the mapm slow, medium, etc.
Names.cfg lists which ship types are warships. Escorts don't seem to count. Does any group with a warship in fomation get labeled a "task force?" tater |

OK, I did some testing (didn't think I was going tobe able to when I posted).
The LEADER determines the status. 100 cargo ships with a DD as the group leader---it's a TF. 100 warships with a merchant as the leader, it's a convoy. Very useful. tater |

Yeah, now that you mention that....
I saw a TF consisting of troop ships with 1 DD as an escort. I remember thinking that those troop ships must count as military, and therefore are called TF. Later on I observed a simular group, also troop ships with 2 DD's and this was a convoy????? It baffeled me then, but I never gave it a second thought as I moved in to attack. Funny stuff. BTW Tater, have you seen this?? http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=582941&postcount=12 If he can get that together it would be awesome. Reg Bando |

Well, there is a problem with my campaign files I need to address. I deleted all the akizukis from the "eastasiacampaign" because they didn't belong (they didn't EXIST). Unfortunately, the devs decided to use 5 times as many Akizukis as every existed a few months before ONE existed as the primary escort early war. So having axed them, I never got around to rebuilding the layer contents since I started to do it over completely.
Since then, 2 other people have done compulsive versions (I mean "compulsive" as the sincerest form of complement ![]() |

Tater, I'm confused. I don't understand what you mean by the previous post.
Does it mean I won't see any DD's, or what? Please explain Reg Bando |

Sorry, the few "TFs" of invasion forces to the philipines are lead by a DD or 2. Some should have CLs, etc. The problem is that the devs used Agano as the CL of choice (Agano didn't steam out of home waters ready for combat until the end of 1942), and Akizuki as the DD of choice. I deleted all of them unless they were leaders, always meaning to go back and change them in the text file, then rebuild things.
Never got around to it, so they are kinda crappy right now. No worries, I'll do something for the next version that doesn't suck. |
