Sonar Wont Come On...

Ok, so what am I missing here? I cant get my sonar to turn on... no matter what course I am running. Couldn't do it in the training (though it said to use sonar), and also couldn't turn it on in career mode (though I spent points to buy sonar for my boat).

What am I missing?

Are you sure it's not radar you're talking about?

All boats in SH4 have sonar, you don't (and can't) buy it or any upgrades to it.

Umm sonar is always on.

you have to go to it to hear it. Rotate it using the home and end keys.

Well... actually... depending on your ownship's speed, sea state, and other conditions I have been able to follow contacts at periscope depth.

But as a general rule it is best to take soundings below periscope depth or deeper.

Yes, I mean radar.

I bought radar, but cant seem to get it to turn on... I have read about the bug where it will not work when at certin headings, but it doesnt matter where I am pointing... it just dont work!

Uhhh did you install one ?

You have to 'buy' one while in port and have it 'installed'.

Oh and some subs cannot be fitted with radar period.

Just because you see a scope in the CC doesent mean its attached to anything.

Might be a bug... Here is my screen shot of my sub. BTW, it's March of '42.

Note that I have SD radar... It's also an upgrade option on the choices to the left. But if I select SD radar from the choice, it says this sub cant take that package.

Yet, you can see I have it.

So I think a bug ate my renown points, letting me choose SD radar when it shouldnt have let me!
