Phillipines resupply missions?

Evening, all.
Not sure which thread to put this in, so here we go:

I started in an S-boat, early war, Asiatic fleet, out of Manila. First, after two missions, I was informed that Manila was over-run, but not where I was supposed to be based out of next. Thanks to Subsim.com Radioroom for letting me know about Soerabaja.

Problem is, I keep getting told in the animated sequences about very interesting resupply and evacuation missions for the trooops still in the Phillipines. And then just when I get all excited, I get ordered to patrol the Celebes sea, yet again.

So do these special missions exist, or are the mentions of them just for "atmosphere"?

There are missions where you drop off a spy, commando or supplies close to shore...I've had a couple but its hit or miss with when they'll be assigned. I seem to do nothing but patrol areas on the edge of my maximum range but thats just me...

S Boats are too small for re-supply missions. When you get something bigger they will show up.

Too bad they can't also take all your fish away except those in the tubes when you get those missions...

I've had a resupply mission in an S boat to Formosa. It was pretty boring just go into the harbor a little above periscope depth at night surface lauch a raft with a crate on it and leave the two sailors behind. I guess they were not part of your crew away, you do lose any crew members.
