My method gives me a 50% chance of survival.
"All ahead full ! Crash dive ! Rudder hard to ..." But a shot beneath the keel with magnetic fuse is about your only chance. Problem is you have to ID the ship, look up its keel depth, set that in the computer, get the doors open, get the shot off, pray its not a dud, pray you got the depth setting right, and last but not least pray for some luck. |

First you must get into the proper attack position.
1) Find a sturdy chair in the control room, preferably one that is bolted to the floor. 2) Fasten the seatbelt on the chair snugly around your waist. If there is no seatbelt, have your XO use a length of sturdy rope to tie you to the chair. 3) Bend slowly from the waist until your head is safely and securely between your knees. 4) Kiss your a** good-bye. If the DD is unaware of your wherabouts you have the upper hand but your going to have to get close. Too close for comfort. If you fire your torp within 500-700 feet he wont have time to zig out of the way. ps; JC was just trying to be amusing. It might not be a good idea to put one of the main moderators on ignore. Dont take anything anyone says in these or any forum for that matter personally. |

turn the sub to make a stern shot at it. go to the scope at try to align the DD at 180° as much as you can (yes! a degree left or right will make a difference, unless you are using a mark27, which has a passive sonar bearing system).
Do not waste time trying to calculate a solution on the tdc, all you need is a straight shot, so if your tdc is set on previous targets lets clear it quickly (set target AoB to 0, speed 0, and 500 mts). Beware! is important that your scope is pointing exactly at 180° BEFORE setting the target distance, because the scope bearing is part of the tdc system. Fire away, and look at the fireworks.... ![]() If the dd is zigzaging a few degrees left and right from 180°, fire 2 or 3 asap. its quite possible you will get at least 1 hit. |

Thanks SteamWake / kv29
Appritiate your help I usually do not use TDC in this case - because it absolutely useless Of couse DDs know where I am with let say 70 % certaincy therefore I am under attack. I am using salvo with 5-10 angle difference when I m shooting my 3 torpedoes

I´d use a combination of kv29's and SteamWakes suggestions. If the vessel is this close - by the time you have a somewhat approximate solution, using TDC inputs, and the eel out of the tube, the destroyer will probably be within minimum arming distance of the torpedo (or right on top of you). I would however refrain from firing a 2nd or 3rd eel. Fire, eject a few decoys, make rudder adjustments to keep the destroyer roughly perpendicular to your course, so he cant place a string on you, and haul ass for the thermal layer.

Uhh... as to ignoring the TDC dont forget to at least set the depth. Most DD's have a very shallow depth and if you fire with the default setting the torp is just going to run under the DD. All your gonna do is piss em off ![]() |

I know the tactics of escaping, even more ->,with using FTT(Maru) mod i m mostly very succsessful in escaping tactics, but as I see my tactics is actually combination of your all advices guys but it still just 35% rate of success with 100% realism.(may be plan(tactics) is great but my execution sucks :-) )
![]() Thank You very much, indeed for your advises. ![]()

Yes DD's can be an aggrivating and evasive target.
As with sleeping dogs they are generally best off left alone. |
