Default Trigger Maru Part Deux!

The escorts have now brought me to my knees.I surrender.I reinstalled everything, got the updated Trigger Maru, took off on a career mission, found a convoy, got a couple of hits on a freighter, missed with two fish, dropped down to 400 meters, and shut down.I then cheated and went to F12.I watched one can come screeching in,hit the brakes, and go to listening. As far as I could tell,no escort got that close to me,and in a few minutes,I was getting the damage report from hell.I know it is hard to get the DD's sensors close to reality,as if they were,we skippers would survive most encounters.I wish someone could tell me if installing a mod like depth charges having less effect would mess up the Trigger Maru mod.I'm probably sounding like a broken record,so I'll shut my piehole

To be honest, I think your tactics are at fault here and not the TM mod. If you make a stealthy, slow approach and then fire your torps and slowly go deep and use the thermal layers in order to make your escape, then although they'll come looking for you, and may even get close, the chances of you sustaining serious damage is not great. Obviously, the greater risks you take during your approach, the greater your chance of being detected early.

Maybe my approach is the culprit, and I surely meant no disrespect for Trigger Maru,as I like it a lot.

Make sure your approach is slow ( I drop to 1 knot) If you are detected during your approach, then you'll be in for a hell of a time with this excellent mod.

Hmm it might be that i've been playing an S-class for too long but 400 metres seems pretty deep. Sure that's not past your crush depth for your sub amd killing you?

As it should be.

I allso tend to think it was the depth that did you in,
depending on class but I havnt taken any of my subs that deep yet.
I would expect them all to be crushed at 400ft other than a balo.
Ive been using the tm mod pak for some time and have found its improved
the AI extremely and I havnt come accross this sort of problem myself.
Remember that the american subs didnt have the deep diving ability that the german subs had.

Anyway , keep sinking those ships.

Indeed. Unless he meant feet instead of metres. I'm pretty sure the Balo only goes to around 300 metres but i've been using the S-class for awhile now so I can't remember. I know the S-Class cruss depth is about 90 metres.

Test depth for a Balao

Test depth for a Balao is 400 ft, which roughly equates to 120 meters. Actual crush depth was somewhere around 200 mtrs (600ft). All other sub classes in the game have substantially smaller test and crush depths.

So, 400 mtrs = VERY BAD
400 ft = NO PROBLEM

I think that I did get my boat too deep, and that would account for getting so much damage so quickley.I downloaded a few mods and added them to Trigger Maru.I got the warning about some files already being present, and over writing them could cause dire problems.I figured the worst that could happen, was another reinstall,so I did it anyway.I can skate along now way deep, and my encounters with escorts have been far more pleasureable! Thanks for all the help.
