Default what's everyone's favorite sub class?

I like Tambor and Gato. Don't know why, I really can't tell the difference between the classes other than the amount of torpedoes in the fore tubes.

The Porpoise. Its fast enough, dives deep enough and has a smaller profile than the similar but larger Gato and Tambor for smaller returns of active sonar to the enemy DDs. It makes finding you a tad bit harder...plus the Porpoise still dives relativly fast so you have a chance of escaping from air strikes.

The Gato and Tambor take forever to dive, too much of a liabilty, radar is nice, but radar was finiky at the time and failed frequently on its own or do to combat actions(nearby DCs would jar them badly).

Not to mention the forced 8000m max visibilty makes it very possible you may be seen during the day when intercepting a target. By the time you see it, dive and actually get submerged you may get spotted.

The Porpoise is the perfect balance of lethality and stealth. Its fast, carries a good amount of ordnance, plus it can get below the waves, get deep and avoid detection very well.

Mine is the Gato Class because it was the workhorse of the War. It also gives me a goal to work for.

Seems to be mine also. Without all the electronic goodies it makes hunting a bit for challenging.
